Padding her way through the halls, Annie tried not to let the thoughts of the past invade her thoughts on her future and on the present. Adjusting her hair, the sapphire eyed Anglo-Jap, released a deep sigh and glanced at the charts she had been dumped with. Around her neck a blue stoned pendant was securely placed, it's colour matched perfect with her eyes and made a stark contrast to her pale white skin. But then any colour other than white stood out so much on her skin. Her black hair, was tied so that it covered the right side of her face, but secured so that it would not get in her way. Considering it's length that was quite a feat. Loosed it hung to her waist and as Mark Sloan had found out, fanned out well on a pillow. That morning Annie had focused intently on Yang's anti-pep talk, ignoring the fellow interns as they gossiped about the Lady McKay behind her back. She looked around and tried to work out if she had been really paying attention to where she was going. At least this new attending might bring a new line of sight for Annie to take in and learn from, then again maybe not. Taking out her notebook, she read through her notes again. Yang had been her usual cheery self, which by now Annie was used to. Sometimes Annie toyed with the idea of letting Christina Yang in on her big cardio surgery. Well... it was a matter of time before Annie had to go through with it and it would be like Christmas,Birthday and almost like getting the Harper Avery Award... almost.

Dominic lay down on the desk, qite literally. He wasnt sed to this hostpital, it was very good with drama so it seemed, drama that he had never encontered before, to the point that he was actaly happy that he had some drama to whitness, so many of the doctors in New York were simply far too prdish and amazed at his accent to have any drama at all. This show of dissaray and hmanity in Seattle Grace was something of a godsend to him.
He rolled off the desk with very little grace bt still landing on his feet nonethe less, grabbing his charts for the day and looking them over, wondering when the intern wold show p, he had the intense pleasre of being given one of the interns to 'teach' bt he hadnt actually been told what he was spposed to be teaching this kid. All he knew was that she was one of Yang's and Yang was spposed to be pretty tough and hardcore, so this kid had to have the goods if still here.
Dominic glanced up for a moment from the morsiliam of doom that was the days charts to spot a girl looking rather vacant, also with charts who looked simply far too yong to be anything bt an intern. It was something of a rle that seriously yong people couldnt be anything bt interns in Dominic's mind, he was far too knowledgable to just how much study was needed for a pass.
He walked over to her with the best authorititive walk he could mster and said to her without really caring if he had the right person or not. "McKay? I'm told your my shadow for the day, so chop chop. Precious hours are to be spent poking and prodding people." He walked away from her, expecting her to follow, if it was the wrong person then he would soon find out.

As soon as she was addressed, her head turned and faced him, soon as he moved she began to keep pace of 4 spaces. " Hai!"
Answering in her usual manner, short, sharp and to the point. It was effective use of her Japanese language skills, while it answered relaying that she was ready for anything she had to do. Annie wouldn't appologies for being late, saying sorry was weakness and she hate to seem weak in front of anyone, least of all this new Attending. What she did say, she added a little humerous tone to her words.
" Chop Chop?"
Her left eyebrow raised, as she bit her lower lip, keeping a decent pace behind him.
" Never mind, who are we to see first?"
Idleness was not something Annie was willing to do, she always was doing something and if she was going to walk behind him, she might as well be working at the same time.

Dominic heard her repeat his words with an element of humour in her voice, he sighed slioghtly to himself, could he really be bothered to laugh? It did seem like a little over his line of what he would determine as too much effort for this earlly in the morning, "yes chop chop, i'm Irish, if you dont understand me then tough you'll be the one killing the patient and Yang can take you into her torture chamber." He quickened his pace slightly, checking his charts in answer to her next question.
"We'll start with Mr..." he rifeled through some sheets for a moment, "...Sampson," he rounded a corner and opened a door, strolling into the room to be greeted by a wide grinning man who looked like he belonged on a ploughed field somewhere beating up donkeys. He looked at the man for a moment before saying. "Hello Mr Sampson i'm the new guy Dr Chaner, call me Dom if you want, this is Mckay, my shadow."
'Wait, why arent i with the other Dr?' Sampson said with the slightest note of fear in his voice. Dominic had learned ages agi that he didnt have to be nice to patients, he could easily allow his obvious loathing of them to seep forth and still have roughly the same results as a tearful chat. "I'm one of the best nurosurgeons to come out of Europe and probably THE best to come out of Ireland. Frther more i'm the best neurosrgeon in this hostpital who hasnt been shot yet. You'll be fine." He paused for a moment while the man took this diatride in before saying briskly, "McKay, highlight what's wrong with the patient."

" It's not the accent, it's the choice of words."
Annie said flatly as she kept pace with him, her sapphire eyes narrowed a little. She knew as an intern she was at the bottom of the chain that supported the hospital, but she still deserved a little respect, if not as a person then as the Lady McKay.
" Nor am I afraid of Dr Yang."
Listening to him she knew this wasn't going to be an easy day, friction was going to occur and Annie wouldn't be too surprised to see if a fire broke out between them. She let him talk to Mr Sampson, bowing sightly at her waist as she entered and stood to the side, reading his chart. As soon as she was addressed, she step forward.
" It's Dr McKay."
She said, her icy pale eyes shooting a glance at Dominic, then turned her eyes to the chart again, then closed it to answer.
" Mr Sampson has been experiencing continuous neck pain and muscle weakness. After X-rays and MRI, it was found that Mr Sampson has herniated thoracic disk, T3 to be precise. Additionally a small tumor was found to be growning at the back of the neck."
Concluding, she took a polite step back, lowering her sapphire eyes to mid way between the floor and Mr Sampson. Delicate hands folded neatly over the chart, waiting for a response.

Dominic shook his head slightly and sighed, half a smile approaching the corners of his mouth as he listened to this girl. She was what he liked to called 'unbroken' that would of course change, it was far too rare for someone to go through being an intern unscathed. There were only three points to internship, demoralisation was one, the idea that you should respect your peers or else go through life without enough passion to do anything at all. Teaching was another, although it wasnt so much teaching as recapping alot of the time. But last but by no means least, experiencing, you had to know what everything felt like, saving a life, losing one, explaining to one that it wont be one for much longer, explaining to the relatives of an ex one that you ballsed up.
"Rule 1," he said as he walked, "always be afraid of the right people." As he rounded the corner he continued. "Rule 2, dont let the right people know your afraid. If you feverishly note anything down like the others make sure those are on the list."
He listened to McKay's reiteratin of the charts and nodded curtly as she took a polite step back, it was polite he knew, so he did his level best to repress his irritation. "Good you can read, we will make an invincible life giver out of you yet." He said casually and grumpily as he flashed a torch into Sampson's eyes for no real reason other than boredom. "How would you proceed?"

She noted his words, but it was things she already knew. Annie had been raised to fear, obey and respect those above her, she was a master at the five fold fence. A mental technique that allowed her to put away her emotions, thoughts or memories to the side and deal with them later. She had no choice, there were things she couldn't deal with when she worked. There was no way Lady Annie McKay was going to show she was afraid of this bully, in fact she wasn't afraid of him, more infuriated with this tone. However it wasn't the place nor the time for her to be infuriated with him at all, so she mentally placed those feelings away into a box and closed it, putting it aside. Then she took another box out with the answer to his question.
"Normally the herniated disk can be treated with non-surgical means, but I would suggest that since that the tumor will need to be biopsied, possibly removed if deemed to be operable, that we repair the hernia as well."
